Former Texas Longhorns star quarterback Colt McCoy - who'll play this season with the NFL's Cleveland Browns - got hitched at an Austin church on Saturday,
McCoy, 23, married his girlfriend of two years, Baylor University alum Rachel Glandorf, also 23, at the Bible-based Westover Hills Church of Christ.
He attended services there regularly while a student at the University of Texas. (The Churches of Christ are pleased with McCoy's success, which his Christian parents see as "a blessing from God.")
The Austin American-Statesman reported that the wedding numbered 550 guests, "including Gov. Rick Perry, former UT quarterback and current coach Major Applewhite and legendary former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach. Many UT coaches and teammates were also in attendance, and former UT receiver Jordan Shipley served as best man."
McCoy, Shipley and, lest we forget, pro-family Heisman-winning hero Tim Tebow were all part of a generation of outspoken Christian college athletes who made their faith known on and off the football field, Tebow more so than any of them.
